The Department of Computer Science has an extensive and successful history of collaborating with enterprises outside the university. Companies often contribute to the department’s research and academic-development efforts. And many faculty members engage in research projects underwritten by corporations, government agencies, and the military, as well as provide them with various kinds of consulting services.
Several companies provided funds for new and improved lecture halls in the computer science wing of the Engineering & Computer Science Complex. Many Metroplex organizations also routinely offer internships to our students as part of the Jonsson School’s co-op program.
Finally, the Computer Science Department directly benefits from the Jonsson School’s Industrial Advisory Board, which includes representatives of major North Texas companies. The Board meets several times a year with the faculty and the School’s leadership and continuously offers real-world advice and counsel.
