This short-course series from the Department of Computer Science at UT Dallas provides education for high-tech professionals. The courses offer training on fundamental issues while using industry-related real-life examples and exercises to maintain relevance and provide maximum benefit to students. Most courses consist of 18 hours of training and are held once a week on evenings or weekends to accommodate busy working professionals. The registration due date for each certification class is one week (7 days) before the start date of the class.
Courses are designed to equip students with necessary theoretical and practical skills in a relatively short timeframe. Prospective students include not only working professionals who want to gain new skills in an area related to their work but also students who have a personal interest in a new technical area. Each course has specific prerequisites, but in general students are expected to have some prior training in fundamental computer science topics, including data structures and basic programming. Some courses may require a more advanced background in computer science.
A certificate is awarded for the completion of each course.
Courses are provided in an executive education format of weekly three-hour modules offered on evenings or Saturdays. Most courses last six weeks.
