International

The International Center (IC) provides opportunities for UT Dallas students, faculty and other stakeholders to participate in international education activities. The IC serves as host to over 7,000 international students, offers programs for students wishing to study, work, or volunteer abroad, and provides resources to faculty interested in adding an international component to their teaching or research.

The International Student Services Office (ISSO) provides immigration information and support to UT Dallas students through workshops, individual student advising and outreach.

As a member AIEA: Association of International Education Administrators and NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the IC complies with Ethical Principles for international education. The IC staff also maintains memberships in multiple professional organizations.

The ISSO provides the following advising assistance to help you manage your immigration status.

Advising Hours

The ISSO offers walk-in advising with no appointment necessary, 15 minute in-person and phone appointment advising, and express advising for quick 5 minute questions or requests. ISSO advising is available:

  • Monday – 1pm – 4:45pm
  • Tuesday – 9am – 11:45am
  • Wednesday – No Advising
  • Thursday – 9am – 11:45am
  • Friday – 1pm – 4:45pm

The ISSO offers walk-in advising with no appointment necessary and express advising for quick 5-minute questions or requests.

Legal Assistance

The International Student Services Office (ISSO) is able to provide general immigration information, but we are not able to provide specific legal advice. Our obligation to UT Dallas F-1 and J-1 students is to interpret the regulations as best as we can when presented with a specific set of facts. Specific legal advice is available, should students seek such advice, through dedicated channels outside ISSO.

Attorney Services for Students

An immigration attorney is available on campus to provide free legal advice for currently enrolled UT Dallas students. These attorney services are sponsored by the UT Dallas Student Government. Contact Student Government to make an appointment.

AILA

AILA is the professional organization for immigration lawyers. Visit aila.org to find an immigration lawyer in your area who can assist with complicated immigration matters.
