Good Food, Good Friends, and Good Advice for Freshmen

The Computer Science Department at UT Dallas invited all Freshmen CS students to an informal dinner where they had a chance to meet other students and mingle with some faculty members.  Dr. Gopal Gupta, head of the CS Department, talked about the benefits of a degree in Computer Science and gave the students some good advice about how to navigate the next four years.   All of the advice was backed up with specific information.

Students were encouraged to take advantage of the many resources, available to CS students.  All professors have office hours and are happy to provide additional support when needed.  Tutoring centers are available to help with course work and computer labs.   Student organizations and groups supplement the students social and academic growth while at college.

The sessions were held during three consecutive evenings on September 15, 16, and 17, 2014.

The  Department of Computer Science at UT Dallas  is one of the largest CS departments in the United States with more than 750 undergraduate, 500 master, and 125 PhD students.  They are committed to exceptional teaching and research in a culture that is as daring as it is supportive.
