14th International Conference on Quality Software
At the QSIC 2014, Dr. Way Kuo gave the keynote speech about critical findings on nuclear and renewable energies. He is the President and University Distinguished Professor of City University of Hong Kong, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions, and Reliability Member of the US National Academy of Engineering. Copies of his book, Critical Reflections on Nuclear and Renewable Energy, were given to all attendees.
Professor Eric Wong (General Chair) from the Computer Science Department at UT Dallas, worked with Professor Bruce McMillin (Program Chair) from the Missouri University of Science and Technology to organize QSIC 2014, held at the Courtyard Hotel in Allen TX, on October 2 & 3, 2014.
Welcome remarks were made by Dr. Mark Spong, Chair of the School of Engineering and Computer Science at UT Dallas, and Dr. Gopal Gupta, Head of the Computer Science Department at UT Dallas.
Dr. Mark Paulk, from the Computer Science Department at UT Dallas, moderated a Q&A panel about Software Quality Assurance in Practice. On the panel were six distinguished guests, pictured above.
QSIC (Quality Software International Conference) is an innovative forum gathering together researchers and practitioners with a shared interest in improving software quality. The latest innovations, tools, and techniques in this challenging area will be presented, discussed, and refined.
Quality assurance is a critical component at every stage in the development of a software system, affecting requirements elicitation, architecture and design, and implementation. The quality of the artifacts generated in these stages will significantly influence the rest of the system. Once again, QSIC 2014 will maintain a theme focused on the Engineering of Quality Systems, consisting of three major research domains: the quality assurance of artifacts generated during software development, such as program code and design documents; the definition and exploration of quality relationships among different software development phases, such as the impact that the quality of requirements might have on the quality of the derived software architecture; and finally the investigation of how codification and communication of knowledge affects software quality.
Previous conferences were held over four continents, in Hong Kong; Dallas, USA; Braunschweig, Germany; Melbourne, Australia; Beijing, China; Portland, USA; Oxford, UK; and Jeju, Korea. Since 2009, the IEEE Reliability Society has been one of the sponsors of the conference.
