UT Dallas CS and AI Society Hold an AI Conference for Industry and Academia Members
Last May, the UT Dallas Computer Science Department hosted its first Industry-University Artificial Intelligence Conference on the UT Dallas campus. The conference provided the 115 attendees from both industry and academia a forum to discuss, present, and learn about state-of-the-art research as well as new concepts within the field of artificial intelligence. Participants attended workshops, networking sessions, and invited keynote speeches by industry guest speakers. The conference was organized by Dr. Jey Veerasamy, UT Dallas CS Professor, and Director of the UT Dallas Center for Computer Science Educations and Outreach (CCSEO), the UT Dallas AI Society, and CCSEO student workers.
The one-day conference began with morning workshops by the UT Dallas AI Society Officers followed by lunchtime networking sessions and ending with an afternoon filled with industry speakers from companies such as IBM, Google, NVIDIA, Bridge Alliance, Intrinsic Algorithm LLC, GeoSpell Academy, as well as UT Dallas CS Professors Drs. Vincent Ng and Chris Davis. Dr. Jey Veerasamy invited Nikhil Thomas, an 8th grader at the Harmony Charter School in Carrollton, Texas, who has been attending the UT Dallas Computers Science K12 Summer Coding Camps and one of the winners at Texas State Engineering Fair, to present his poster about learning algorithm to solve Rubik’s Cube.
