National Center for Women & IT and Microsoft Research Sponsor UTD’s Tech Girls Summer Camp
The National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT.org) and Microsoft Research has selected to sponsor the University of Texas at Dallas’ Connect-Inspire-Guide Camp for female freshman students. The NCWIT Academic Alliance Seed Fund awards NCWIT’s Academic Alliance members at non-profit US institutions with start-up funds to develop and implement initiatives for recruiting and retaining young women in computing and IT.
This summer, the CS department will arrange a residential and overnight camp for female freshman students who have been accepted to UTD for the 2015 fall semester. The program is aimed to develop a community for the young women. They will be introduced to the computer science faculty, participate in hands-on activities, interact with peers with similar interests, and network with career professionals. The Project Principle Investigators are Prof. Janell Straach and Mary Partain.
This camp is sponsored through a generous donation by National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT.org) and Microsoft Research. (NCWIT Academic Alliance Seed Fund 2015)
